The Atamasthana Committee has decided to temporarily appoint Venerable Ethelawatunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thero, the Chief Sanghanayake of the North Central District and Ruwanweli Chaityaramadhipathi, to cover the duties of the Atamasthanadhipathi, the Malwatta Maha Viharaya, in a statement.
The statement states that Ethelawatunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thero will act in that position until the ongoing court proceedings regarding the allegations against Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, the Chief Sanghanayake of the Nuwara Kalaweya and Atamasthanadhipathi of the Malwatta Maha Viharaya Division, are concluded and a final decision is made on the matter.
The statement has been issued under the signature of the Registrar of the Malwatta Division, Venerable Dr. Pahamune Sumangala Thero.
