The annual Vesak procession at the Temple of the Tooth took place yesterday (30) afternoon as usual.
The Vesak procession takes place on the street after the Upasampada procession on the full moon day of Vesak and traditionally takes place in the temple square of the Temple of the Tooth.
The Vesak procession that left the Temple of the Tooth yesterday afternoon passed through Dalada Veediya, D.S. Senanayake Street, and then up the Temple Road, passing through Deva Street and Raja Street before returning to the Temple of the Tooth.
The Indiraja elephant belonging to the elephant class of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic carried the relic casket, while the Sindu elephant belonging to the elephant class of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Bandara elephant of the Dela Walawwa carried the relic.
