The Ministry of Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs is working to implement a program to develop Islamic religious places in conjunction with the 42nd National Milad-un-Nabi State Festival. The Ministry says that under this program, the government has provided Rs. 10 million for the development of Muslim mosques in the Gampaha District alone.
In addition, a “Welcome to Our Mosque” reconciliation program has also been organized in conjunction with the 42nd National Milad-un-Nabi State Festival. Under this program, people of other religions will have the opportunity to see the internal culture, history and religious observances of a Muslim mosque.
In a Facebook post in this regard, Minister of Tourism and Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath urged everyone to join hands to build a bridge of reconciliation to build a united Sri Lanka by fostering mutual understanding, respect and goodwill. The post further stated that the Periyamulla Jumma Masjid and the Negombo Mosque will be open to all from 9.30 am on August 24.
