Two private companies warn striking electricity workers.

Two of the six companies established to provide services to the Electricity Board after its restructuring have issued warning letters to their employees.

The two companies, Electricity Distribution Lanka Private Limited and National Transmission Network Service Provider Private Limited, have issued a notice to their employees asking them to continue performing their duties as they have been doing so far.

The two companies have requested the electricity workers to continue to maintain the electricity supply by performing their duties as usual.

The companies have requested in their notices that since all services related to electricity supply have been declared essential services by the Gazette, failure to perform their duties is a violation of the Essential Services Regulations and disciplinary action will be taken for that.

The announcement also states that steps will be taken to recruit 100 employees to the two new companies and issue appointment letters to them in the future.
