The relevant letter states that the principal’s arbitrary actions should be investigated and action should be taken against her as soon as possible.
The parents have revealed in their letter that the daughter of the secretary of the school’s development society was pressured to be admitted to the team, despite the fact that there was a procedure for admitting children to the throwball team, which has brought victories to Sirimavo Bandaranaike College for over 20 years.
The parents say that the secretary of the School Development Society introduced himself as a “gentleman who helps us a lot” and pressured the sports coach to recruit his child to the school team, which is not the same as the principal.
Later, when the school children went to seek the principal’s blessing before leaving for the All-Ceylon Throw Ball Tournament, the parents allege that she blamed the children for not including the secretary of the School Development Society’s daughter in the team, saying, “Because of you, no more children will come to this sport, you are harassing other children.”
They point out that it is not at all appropriate for a teacher who introduces herself as a teacher to mentally harass young girls of about 13 years old in this way.
In addition, the parents say that office workers are used to hold her umbrella and carry her water bottle when she goes from her official residence to the school office, thereby setting a very primitive example by behaving like a separate, distinguished woman in front of the school children.
In addition, the parents have brought to the attention of the authorities many issues including the fact that during the preparation of the Buddha Pooja at the school, the children are being unnecessarily burdened and forced to bring very expensive items for the Buddha Pooja, the Buddha Pooja is also offered to her before the Buddha, and water is taken from the school water supply system to her official residence.
Parents allege that although the names of the school girls or teachers in the group photos have been mentioned in the school for a while now, after the arrival of the current principal, the photos continue to highlight her position as a teacher, such as Dr. Sumedha Jayaweera and the school student leaders, Dr. Sumedha Jayaweera and the school staff, and Dr. Sumedha Jayaweera and the Western Band.
