120 Accidental Deaths on 19th Day

The number of road accidents reported in the first 19 days of this year is 113, of which 120 people have died, said DIG W. P.J. Senadheera, in charge of the Traffic Control and Road Safety Directorate. He said this while participating in a media briefing held yesterday (20).

The DIG also said that 216 people have been seriously injured in these accidents, the number of minor accidents has increased to 490, and 159 damages have been reported from these accidents.

The DIG also stated that the majority of pedestrians who have died in these accidents have been reported as 33, while 45 motorcycle accidents and 7 pillion riders have also died in these accidents.
