It is reported that a public protest has been organized to protest the actions of the Attorney General. This protest has been organized by a group of lawyers, journalists and social activists.
Accordingly, the protest is scheduled to be held on the day after tomorrow (21) at 10.00 am near the Aluthkade Courthouse in Colombo.
This public protest has been organized against alleged corruption and protection of corrupt individuals in the Attorney General’s Department.
The Attorney General has been accused of protecting certain corrupt individuals without enforcing the law.
Among the allegations against the Attorney General are his biased approach in the investigation into former President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his handling of the murder of the Mahara prisoner.
In addition, the protesters have leveled many other incidents against the Attorney General, including the arrest of the brother of an officer of the Attorney General’s Department in a foreign country on suspicion of being involved in an underworld.
Meanwhile, the “Free Lawyers” organization has also organized a protest at 1:45 pm on the same day, saying that the honor of the Attorney General should be protected.
The organization has invited lawyers to gather near the Attorney General’s Office . The organization says that the main objective of their protest is to protect the honor of the Attorney General’s Department.
