Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne said that the news spread on social media that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe will return to Parliament is just a media campaign.
He also said that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe had stated in a private discussion with him that he was not prepared to work with or govern with the current government.
However, when Sri Lanka went bankrupt in 2022, Ranil Wickremesinghe, who took over the country with one seat in Parliament, rescued it within a year and practically proved that he could work, and therefore, when the current government fails, the people will remember him again.
Pointing out that even international financial rating agencies have warned that the country is heading towards severe economic risk and anarchy under the current government, he said that the public opinion was that Ranil’s return was good when the rupee depreciated against the dollar in recent days.
