In conjunction with the Environment Day celebration week, ten electric buggy carts were donated to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya for tourism promotion under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Environment Anton Jayakody yesterday (04).
The closing day of the Ayurveda and Trade Exhibition held at the premises was held and the vehicles were handed over at that time.
As a program to fulfill a long-standing need of the Botanical Gardens, the provision of electric vehicles (EVs) for the convenience of tourists was carried out under the new government. The Deputy Minister also pointed out that the aim of this is to make the functioning of the Botanical Gardens, which receives a large number of local and foreign tourists daily, more efficient.

The Minister also stated that the government has paid special attention to promoting environmentally friendly electric vehicles in tourist areas, and various programs are being implemented with the aim of converting those areas into “Emission Zero” zones in the future.
Kandy District Parliamentarian Thanura Dissanayake, along with many public representatives and officials of the Botanical Gardens Department, participated in this event.
