The heartbreaking video of a little girl walking through a paddy field with a small porcupine has been confirmed to be from Sri Lanka, not Bangladesh.
It has now been confirmed that it was uploaded to the internet a few days ago by a Facebook user from Polonnaruwa, and that the original post was written in Sinhala.
This heartbreaking video, which has won the hearts of millions of people around the world, includes a scene of a little porcupine chasing a small child and was widely circulated on social media with false captions that it was of a girl from Bangladesh. Even international media outlets, including Britain’s The Telegraph, had reported this false information in the same way.
A fact-checking organization called Stream, operating from Bangladesh, has also confirmed through a Reverse Image Search investigation that the video was filmed in Sri Lanka and uploaded to the Internet.
