The opposition leader defied the Attorney General

It is reported that opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, as a member of the Constitutional Council, hopes to retain a private lawyer instead of the Attorney General in the case of the refusal of the Constiturion Assembly to nominate the President of the Court of Appeal, Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne, as a Judge of the Court of Appeal.

When the Constiturion Assembly met last Monday, the opposition leader asked about the possibility of retaining a private lawyer to intervene in this case. The reason for this is that the Attorney General informed the court that the objection to the nomination of Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne as a Court of Appeal judge was not a collective decision of the Constiturion Assembly .

The Constiturion Assembly will meet again next Monday to take a final decision in this regard.
