The Gazette on the restructuring of the Electricity Board is issued.

The Extraordinary Gazette Notification for the establishment of six successor companies to transfer the functions and duties of the Ceylon Electricity Board has been issued by the Minister of Energy, Kumara Jayakody.

The Gazette Notification has been issued with effect from Monday, March 09 and according to the Gazette, six successor companies will be established for the generation, transmission, distribution and system operations of electricity.

Accordingly, the remaining provisions of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act, No. 36 of 2024 (except for a few specified sections) will come into force from March 9, 2026, thereby officially restructuring the Ceylon Electricity Board.
