The data of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) states that the number of tourists who came to Sri Lanka in April has dropped significantly.
From December 2023 to March 2024, more than 200,000 tourists visited the island every month, but the number of tourists dropped to 148,867 last April, the SLTDA said.
However, this figure represents a 41% increase over April 2023. But it was a decrease of 60,314 tourist arrivals from 209,181 tourist arrivals recorded in the previous month (March).
