The three prison officers arrested by the Borella Police in connection with the death of Rajapaksa Mini Muthu Pathirannahelage Thushara Sampath, who died following a dispute at the Colombo Magazine Prison, have been identified during an identification parade.
Eight inmates at the Welikada Prison have identified the suspects. The other two suspects are scheduled to be produced for an identification parade today (7).
Accordingly, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered that the five suspects, including the three officers, be remanded until May 20.
A jailer and two wardens of the Magazine Prison are among those remanded.
