Ven. Ulapane Sumangala Thero stated that the ‘Satyagraha’ is being temporarily concluded, following a pledge by the Chief Prelates (Maha Nayaka Theros) of the three Nikayas to intervene in the efforts to secure the release of Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero. He made these remarks this afternoon during a press conference held to mark the conclusion of the monks’ ‘Satyagraha’, which had been ongoing for ten days at Viharamahadevi Park.
He noted that the Chief Prelates of the three Nikayas had informed him in writing of their intention to intervene to secure the release of Gnanasara Thero, and that it is for this reason that the ‘Satyagraha’ is being temporarily brought to an end.
