Former State Intelligence Service Chief, Major General (Retired) Suresh Sale, who was arrested this morning (25) by the Criminal Investigation Department, has been detained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, police said.
Speaking at a special media briefing held in Colombo today, Deputy Inspector General Jaliya Senaratne said that since Sale was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, he can be detained and questioned for 72 hours.
Meanwhile, Senior Deputy Inspector General Sajeeva Medawatta said that Suresh Sale was arrested based on evidence related to the 2019 Easter Sunday bomb attacks.
