Ranil says what needs to be done to start paying off debt by 2028

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe says that the US tariffs have created a new economic crisis as Sri Lanka will have to find ways and means to pay off its debt by 2028 and the government should come up with a plan to deal with the situation.

‘Even if the US reduces its tariff level to 25%, Sri Lanka’s exports will decline. According to the debt restructuring program, funds will have to be generated to start paying off the debt by 2028. The government should consider this an emergency situation and come up with a plan to deal with the situation,’ the former President said.
