Minister explains how compensation is paid to electricity workers.

The Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake, said that compensation for those who applied for retirement under the voluntary retirement scheme following the abolition of the Ceylon Electricity Board will be provided in two phases.

He stated that under the first phase, 50% of the total compensation amount will be provided from the funds of the General Treasury.

He stated that the relevant paper has been submitted for cabinet approval and that the work will be completed as soon as the approval is received, and that the remaining 50% is expected to be provided in a short time.
