Kapila Chandrasena released on bail

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (05) ordered the release of Kapila Chandrasena, the former CEO of SriLankan Airlines, who was remanded on charges of accepting a bribe of two million US dollars in a deal to purchase Airbus aircraft for the company.

Accordingly, the suspect was released on a cash bail of five hundred thousand rupees and three sureties of one million rupees each, and a travel ban was imposed on him.

The decision was made after considering the bail application made by President’s Counsel Rienzi Arkusalarathna, who appeared for Kapila Chandrasena when the case was taken up on the 28th.
