The retired Air Vice Marshal Sampath Tuiyakontha, who served in the Sri Lanka Air Force, expressed various opinions in a public meeting organized by a political party in a way that motivated the members of the security forces who are currently in active service, and the Air Force has taken steps to prevent the concerned officer from entering the Air Force premises. Minister of State for Defense Mr. Pramitha Bandara Thennakoon made the announcement in Parliament.
Also, the minister emphasized that the decision to suspend the existing privilege of the concerned retired officer to enter an air force base is a decision taken to protect the state security and the country’s system of governance, and that decision was taken by an internal standing committee of the air force. The Minister also said that the Air Force has no legal obligation to ask the concerned person or give reasons regarding that decision.
