According to Welipanna police, a former MP who represented Valallavita local council from Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has drowned. It is said that the MP has drowned after falling into a canal in the area.
The deceased local council member is a resident of Bopitiya area of Valallavita. The police said that he had an accident while visiting a house in the area and that the police had received a complaint that he was missing yesterday. The deceased MP was seventy years old.
