Three cocks worth 2.2 million stolen after Facebook tip

The Mawanella Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of two persons who are accused of stealing three cocks belonging to a businessman in Hingule, Mawanella, until the 29th. The foreign nature of this is that these three cocks are worth over Rs. 2.2 million.

The three stolen cocks belong to the Pansy Hens breed. It is reported that this type of cocks is very expensive. The suspects stole the animals on the night of the 19th.

The owner of the cocks is a businessman who has been abroad for some time and is engaged in the business of breeding and selling high-quality cocks. The suspects have stolen three cocks used for breeding.

The businessman had complained to the police about the theft, stating that he had brought these cocks from the Jaffna area and that they included an 11-month-old black cock worth 1.4 million rupees, a one-year-old red cock worth 80,000 rupees and a seven-month-old silver cock worth 80,000 rupees.

It has been revealed that the theft was committed after learning about these cocks from Facebook.
