It is reported that the water level of the Kelani River is rising rapidly due to torrential rains pouring down on the upper catchment areas. Rain is currently falling in the affected areas, and it has been observed that the water level of the Kelani River at Pugoda has risen by several feet over the past 24 hours compared to yesterday (19) evening.
As the rain continues, residents living in low-lying areas near the river are urged to remain vigilant.
