According to the announcement, a low-pressure area has formed over the Andaman Sea region of the Bay of Bengal, and it is expected to intensify further over the coming days. As this system may lead to increased rainfall and stronger winds in the Bay of Bengal, the fishing and naval communities are advised to remain vigilant and stay updated on future announcements and forecasts from the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur intermittently in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Hambantota via Puttalam, Colombo, and Galle. In other sea areas around the island, scattered showers or thundershowers may occur during the evening or night. Winds will blow from the south-west at speeds of approximately 30–40 km/h.
Wind speeds may occasionally increase up to 50–60 km/h in the sea areas off the coast extending from Matara to Pothuvil via Hambantota. Wind speeds may occasionally increase up to 50 km/h in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankesanthurai via Mannar.
