The Nuwara Eliya Disaster Management Unit says that the Gregory Lake spillway had to be opened this afternoon (04) due to the rapid rise in the water level of the Gregory Lake with the heavy rains that have been falling in the Nuwara Eliya area.
Also, due to the severe bad weather and dense fog prevailing in the Nuwara Eliya area, the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council has temporarily banned boating in the Gregory Lake for safety reasons.
Also, the police have requested drivers to drive carefully while driving on the Nuwara Eliya-Badulla main road, the Nuwara Eliya-Hatton main road and the Nuwara Eliya-Kahn main road as there is a dense fog situation.
