Cabinet approval to amend the Constitution.

Cabinet approval has been received to amend the Constitution and the Judiciary Organization Act.

Pursuant to the approval given at the Cabinet meeting held on 27 July 2026, the Attorney General has given his constitutional clearance to the Twenty-Second Constitutional Amendment Bill and the Judiciary Organization (Amendment) Bill prepared by the Legal Draftsman.

Accordingly, the relevant amendment Bills prepared by the Legal Draftsman are scheduled to be published in the Government Gazette in the near future. After publication in the Gazette, the said Bills will be presented to Parliament for approval.

The Cabinet has granted this approval on a proposal submitted by the Minister of Judiciary and National Integration.
