Cabinet Media Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today that a special investigation will be conducted into a statement made by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna General Secretary and Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam regarding the current IGP.
The Minister stated that Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam’s statement gives some indication regarding the killing of the IGP on the highway and therefore it has to be considered very seriously.
Commenting further on the matter, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said:
”If a General Secretary of a political party had said this, it would be a statement that the IGP would be killed on the highway. It is serious. Therefore, an investigation must be conducted into it. This statement cannot be dismissed. This story was not just said somewhere. It seems to have been said deliberately and deliberately at a press conference…”
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau has already initiated a special investigation into the incident.
