Journalist Poddala Jayaratne says that the files of crimes committed during the Rajapaksa regime that were in the possession of the Criminal Investigation Department have gone missing.
Several important files have been reported to have disappeared in this way, including the incident in which he was abducted and subjected to inhuman torture and serious injuries.
Poddala Jayantha, a journalist at the Lake House Institute during the Rajapaksa regime, was abducted and tortured. He subsequently fled the country for his life and is currently living in the United States, having received asylum.
After the Good Governance government was formed in 2015, he returned to Sri Lanka and filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department about his abduction. The investigation into the 2009 abduction was not initiated until he came and filed a complaint in 2017. He is currently back in Sri Lanka to inquire about the progress of those investigations and provide more information.
He revealed this information while participating in a discussion with an online channel.
