A drug trafficker known as Angida Priyantha who became enraged after a large consignment of narcotics was seized by the police, is reported to have arranged a contract killing. According to reports, he allegedly ordered the murder of the informant who provided information about the drug shipment and planned to place the severed head in front of the residence of Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, who conducted the investigation.
The hired assassin who accepted the contract has now been arrested by the Western North Crimes Division. During questioning, these details were revealed.
On November 12 last year, approximately 350 kilograms of the drug known as “ice” (crystal methamphetamine) was seized at Kirinda beach by the Western North Crimes Division.
The raid was carried out based on intelligence received by the then Director, Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala.
Seven suspects were arrested along with the narcotics consignment.
The owner of the drug shipment, the trafficker known as “Angoda Priyantha,” who is currently hiding in Dubai, had investigated who provided the information to Rohan Olugala. After learning this, the informant reportedly fled from his home.
Meanwhile, acting on information received by Deputy Inspector General of Police Kalinga Jayasinghe, the person who accepted the contract was arrested. During interrogation, he revealed details of the alleged plan.
