State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that 44,430 vehicles have been imported into the market during the period when the vehicle import ban was in effect.
According to the minister, there are 38,144 motorcycles and 6,286 cars in the market.
This was revealed in a discussion held between vehicle assemblers and State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya regarding the removal of import restrictions.
It is also reported that although restrictions have been imposed on the import of vehicles, the assembly and sale of spare parts will continue.
The representatives of many local vehicle manufacturers participated in this discussion and there was a long discussion regarding the granting of permission for the import of vehicles.
