The Coconut Development Authority (CDA) said that Sri Lanka earned an income of 3,439 million rupees in February this year from the export of coconut water. That amount is an increase of 734 million rupees compared to the amount earned in February last year.
These facts were revealed in a discussion chaired by Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera this morning (25).
The minister mentioned that 300 million coconuts are lost annually due to the damage caused by wild animals and if that amount can be saved, the income of coconut growers can be further increased.
