21 Indian fisherman arrested for violating Sri Lanka’s maritime boundary.

The Sri Lanka Navy says that 21 Indian fishermen and 4 vessels were arrested yesterday in a special operation to chase away the Indian trawlers engaged in illegal fishing activities in the Sri Lankan waters.

Sources of the Navy say that these people were arrested while they are engaged in fishing activities in the ocean area belonging to Sri Lanka, beyond the of Mannar and Kankasanthura.

The North Central Naval Command and the Northern Naval Command on Wednesday evening deployed fast-attack vessels and coastguards of the Sri Lankan Navy to chase away a group of Indian trawlers after they were reported to be engaged in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters.
