Journalists Without Borders accuses the Israeli army of attacking a group of journalists.A video of Israeli forces shooting at a group of television reporters has already been released and comments about it Jonathan Dagher, head of the Middle East of Reporters Without Borders (RSF), told Al Jazeera the shooting was “just a continuing part of an ongoing situation” where the Israeli military “intentionally targets journalists on the field as they cover any military operation”.
“This is a very shocking video to see but at the same it’s not that shocking because unfortunately we’ve become far too used to looking at footage and hearing testimonies of journalists and their crews being targeted by Israeli forces on the field,” he said.
Dagher said the attack drew “obvious parallels” to last year’s killing of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
The veteran reporter was covering an Israeli military raid on Jenin on May 11, 2022 when she was shot and killed by an Israeli sniper, despite wearing a clearly marked press vest and helmet.
