A young woman who had come to receive a degree at the Sripalli campus graduation ceremony held at the Bandaranaike Conference Hall was foiled by Narahenpita police officers.
The police hotline received information this afternoon (29) that a young woman who had been kidnapped near the Bandaranaike Conference Hall was being taken away in a motor vehicle. Accordingly, a police team at the Narahenpita police station ordered the motor vehicle to stop from the relevant roadblock.
However, the police said that the motor vehicle continued to drive and the police officers opened fire on the motor vehicle.
The person driving the motor vehicle at that time abandoned the young woman and the motor vehicle and fled. Police say it has been confirmed that the young woman was abducted by her boyfriend, Visin.
Police have launched an investigation to find the absconding boyfriend and the Kurunduwatte Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
