The Court of Appeal ordered today (22) that the petitions which seek to overturn the prison authorities’ decision to remove the robes of Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero following his sentencing for contempt of court be taken up again on November 18.
The court issued this order after considering the submissions presented when the petitions were heard before a bench comprising Court of Appeal Judges Amal Ranaraja, Mahen Gopallawa, and Priyantha Fernando.
These petitions were filed by a group of Buddhist monks, including Ven. Theeniyawala Palitha Thero.
