A series of joint airstrikes by Nigerian and US security forces in northeastern Nigeria have killed 175 terrorists, including the second-highest leader of the Islamic State group.
It is reported that Nigeria and the United States have issued official statements in this regard.
Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the global head of operations for the Islamic State group, known as the “most active terrorist” operating worldwide, has been killed in a security operation in a remote village in northeastern Nigeria, foreign media reports.
According to United Nations data, more than 40,000 people have been killed and more than two million others have been displaced due to the 17-year conflict.
Last February, a group of American soldiers arrived in Nigeria for advice and training. Although the United States stated that the group would not participate in any military operations, that statement has been shattered with this massive joint attack. Accordingly, it has now been confirmed that American forces are directly and actively contributing to military operations in the African country of Nigeria.
