Weerawansa reveals who is behind Mahinda being summoned to the Bribery Commission.

Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa alleges that the summoning of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa before the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission is a political stunt by the current government to appease the pro-LTTE diaspora abroad.

He said that this government came to power with the financial support of the Tiger diaspora, and that the Tiger diaspora spent most of the current government’s election campaign and overseas meetings, and therefore the government now has to please them.

He pointed out that in a month of commemoration of the war victory, the government has imprisoned naval and army intelligence officers as well as former State Intelligence Chief Suresh Sale, and stated that the interests of the diaspora are behind all this.

He said that the summoning of Mahinda Rajapaksa, who served as the Commander-in-Chief during the war, to the Bribery Commission to investigate the assets and liabilities of Mahinda Rajapaksa, who served as the Commander-in-Chief during the war, is just an act to please the Tiger sympathizers.
