Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma says that efforts are being made to recover as much as possible of the US$2.5 million stolen from the Ministry of Finance by cybercriminals.
He made this statement while addressing a media briefing held at the Ministry Auditorium today (23).
The Ministry Secretary emphasized that the hackers had accessed the relevant system via email and that the Australian Ambassador and the creditor had also been informed about the incident.
He also said that after several months of attempts, the hackers had entered the Ministry’s computer system.
