A video showing the current Attorney General and President’s Counsel Parinda Ranasinghe meeting and talking to a group of lawyers is circulating in the media.
This conversation is believed to have taken place after the protest held in front of the Attorney General’s Department yesterday (21) morning.
There, he told the lawyers that he was not a person who had broken the law, but that lawyers knew the law as people who knew it. He also told them to go to the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court and challenge his decisions if they had made a mistake.
At that time, Mr. Ranasinghe further said,
“If I am making a mistake, there is the Supreme Court, there is the Court of Appeal. Please go to those places and challenge it. I am ready to agree to a decision that comes through the courts.”
