The doctors at the Colombo National Eye Hospital will go on strike today (22) to protest against the irregular transfers, said the media spokesperson of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe.
The strike is planned to commence from 8.00 this morning, he added, adding that the strike in hospitals in the Eastern Province will continue.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe said that a continuous island-wide trade union action is planned to commence from tomorrow (23) due to the government’s failure to fulfill the promises made so far on the issue of doctors’ allowances.
