Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado recently said on a foreign television program that she would be willing to exchange her Nobel Prize with the US president who oversaw the successful US operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. However, foreign media reports that the Nobel Institute has denied the statement.
Issuing a statement on this, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has stated that the Nobel Peace Prize is not a prize that can be transferred, shared or revoked.
Speaking on the television program, opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said:
”The Nobel Prize that I have received is a prize from the Venezuelan people. I am ready to exchange it with the US president. “The US President’s operation to arrest the Venezuelan president is historic. It is a huge step towards a democratic transition.”
