Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said that there has been no official notification so far regarding the arrest of Shiran Basic, who is considered a large-scale drug trafficker.
However, the Minister said that unofficial sources have been received that he has been arrested and that the matter is being monitored.
“There is no official notification from the State of Dubai regarding the arrest of Shiran Basic. There was some information about this. The police are monitoring this. The Criminal Investigation Department is especially monitoring this. Action will be taken against these drug criminals in the future. Red and blue notices have been issued. They will be brought to justice in the future.
This matter is being investigated through the Interpol. No matter what kind of person he is, he must be brought to justice. We have taken the necessary steps.”
Last week, it was reported that Shiran Basik, a major drug trafficker, had been arrested in Dubai.
He is said to be a wanted man even in the US due to his direct links to the Iranian drug network.
He is considered one of the five major drug traffickers supplying drugs to the country.
