The US Navy says it has seized an Iranian ship in the Sea of Oman after it was fired upon while sailing in defiance of its orders.
The ship, which was sailing in a hostile direction, was forced to fire on its engine room after the US Navy ignored warnings to stop, US President Donald Trump said on his “Truth Social” social media account.
The nearly 900-foot cargo ship, the TOUSKA, was signaled to stop when it tried to pass through its naval barriers, and was fired upon and taken into custody for continuing to sail without orders, Trump said in the tweet.
Commenting on this, the Iranian Ministry of Defense says that it considers the shooting of an Iranian commercial ship in the Sea of Oman to be an act of armed piracy.
Accordingly, the Iranian Ministry of Defense says that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond quickly to this act of armed piracy.
