National People’s Power (NPP) Member of Parliament Asitha Niroshana and Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal face allegations regarding the unlawful use of land belonging to the Millennium City housing complex for a ‘Metro’ bus depot. The Athurugiriya Police have summoned both individuals today to investigate these allegations.
It is reported that this summons follows a complaint lodged by the housing complex’s management, alleging that the two individuals forcibly seized the land in question. The complaining party has criticized the police for failing to take action, noting that nearly five days have passed since the complaint was filed. The ‘Metro’ bus terminal in Athurugiriya was opened on September 29, led by National People’s Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Asitha Niroshana and Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal; the site preparation had been carried out on the 26th.
The housing complex administration alleges that a 100-perch plot of land belonging to the Athurugiriya Millennium City housing complex was seized for this ‘Metro’ bus terminal and that the group involved took possession of the land forcibly. Subsequently, the administration lodged a complaint with the Athurugiriya Police regarding the incident.
In connection with this, NPP Parliamentarian Asitha Niroshana and Kaduwela Mayor Ranjan Jayalal were summoned to the Athurugiriya Police station yesterday (30).
