A 50-year-old man and his 18-year-old daughter are missing after a boat they were sailing in the Munnakkara lagoon in Negombo capsized, police say.
The police media spokesperson’s office said that seven people, including a Catholic priest who had recently returned from abroad, were involved in the accident. Five people were rescued by the boat crew nearby, while two people who were seriously injured have been hospitalized.
The group, consisting of fishermen and family members, were from the Munnakkara area. Operations are underway to find the father and daughter, who are suspected of drowning.
