Sri Lankan vessel involved in drug trafficking arrested in Maldives .

A Sri Lankan fishing vessel carrying crystal methamphetamine and cocaine has been arrested by the Maldivian Coast Guard.

Following a successful intelligence exchange between the Sri Lanka Navy and the Maldivian Coast Guard, the Maldivian Coast Guard reported that five suspects were on board the vessel when it was seized yesterday. Approximately 344 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 124 kilograms of cocaine were seized from the vessel.

The suspects on board the multi-day fishing vessel Ashen Putha, registered in Sri Lanka, are reported to be residents of Devundara and Trincomalee.
