According to police sources, one person was killed and another was injured in a clash between two groups of youths in Kurunegala, Mawathagama, Pilassa area last night.
It is reported that the Special Task Force (STF) and the police have been deployed for the security of the area after the clash.
This 28-year-old resident of Pilassa area died after being admitted to the hospital due to severe cuts sustained in the clash. Two other people who were injured in the conflict have also been admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for treatment.
It is reported that a dispute between the deceased and another group of people in the area led to the conflict. Police sources say that seven people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
