The new tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on Sri Lanka, which amount to forty-four percent, do not pose a threat to Sri Lanka at this time, Industry Minister Sunil Handunnetti says.
He said that he hopes to present and pass the new tariff policy for the country to Parliament in the future, and that he is confident that new markets in the world will open up to Sri Lanka through the trade barriers that America creates with other countries in the world.
He was responding to a query made by journalists at a press conference held in Colombo regarding the new American tariff policy.
