The All Ceylon Restaurant and Restaurant Owners Association has decided to increase the prices of certain food items with effect from Saturday midnight due to the increase in the price of essential commodities.
All Ceylon Restaurant and Restaurant Owners Association President Harshana Rukshan said that the decision to increase the price was made due to the increase in the prices of many materials including sugar and gas. Due to the increase in the price of sugar, the price of a plain tea has increased by Rs. 5, and the price of a milk tea has increased by Rs. 10.
Apart from this, the price of rice, vegetables, chicken and onion has gone up significantly, and accordingly the price of a packet of rice will have to be increased by Rs 20, while the price of kottu and fried rice will also be increased by Rs 20, he said.
