As it has been decided to use the Presidential House and the Presidential Secretariat in another development project under the Colombo Port City Project, the government has decided to build the new Presidential House and the Presidential Secretariat elsewhere.
Accordingly, it is reported that the government has decided to build the new presidential palace and the presidential secretariat on the site of the national ‘Sandun Garden’ in Battaramulla. The National Sandalwood Garden arranged on a nine acre land near the Parliament premises
An urban garden with lots of sandalwood plants. Former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa spent nearly thirty crore rupees on its development, which was a subject of much criticism.
Accordingly, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the Urban Development Authority and President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake to prepare future plans and submit a report.
According to the report, it has also been decided to build the Prime Minister’s office, the Prime Minister’s official residence and the administration office in a nearby land.
